My Journey
RE Appointment Scheduled
Wednesday, Apr. 16, 2003 @ 5:12 p.m.

I got a call yesterday from a nurse at the doctor's office. She made an appointment for us at the RE for early May. She also said that we would be receiving new patient information in the mail from the RE's office (which came in the mail today). I'm going to have to change the appointment though, because my husband will not be able to get off of work then, and neither will I. A teacher can't go to the doctor at 1:00 in the afternoon! My husband said that the second week of June (my first week of summer vacation) would be the earliest he could get away. This is fine with me too. I just have to call the doctor's office early enough (I'd rather not make the calls from school). They open two days a week until noon, and two other days they are open until 4:00. At least the office is not far away, probably only ten minutes.

My husband was a little worried about leaving work to see the doctor. He works with his family (father, uncle, brothers, and cousins) and would rather not tell them why he is going to the doctor. He decided that he would have to at least tell his dad what is going on. I understand his need to keep things private. Maybe we can find a valid reason for him leaving work early. Then he won't have to let his family know that we are seeking help for infertility. It is at the end of his busy season, so it would be a little too early for him to take a vacation somewhere. Hmmmmmmm.

My friend who is pregnant with triplets goes to the RE that I was referred to. I plan to talk to her soon to see what information she can give me. So far I haven't told anyone (except this journal and my email penpals) about the semen analysis. I'll probably only tell my infertile friends about it until we see the specialist in June. I'm afraid of the whole world (my church/school/family circles) finding out. I'm a pretty private person and don't want people asking questions or talking about me.
