My Journey
Moving On Wednesday, Mar. 23, 2005 @ 7:15 p.m.
Yesterday our social worker called me at lunch and told me that the birthmother had narrowed things down to one family that works with the other social worker. The birthmother still wanted to look at profiles from other offices in the state, so her decision wasn't final. It's interesting how a girl who had no specific requests of what she was looking for could only find one family that might work. She must not have known what she really wanted, but now has a better idea.

The social worker also told me that they decided to show local families to the birthmother that didn't want families living near her or her family. She made it sound like birthmothers don't always know what they want, and that it may not be as important to her as she thinks. The birthmother is also requesting a childless couple and one where a parent will stay at home or have a family member provide childcare, so her choices of families are limited. Our social worker told me more about the situation. The openness of the adoption was just what my husband and I were looking for, but there were some other things about the situation that didn't really match our adoption plans. I called the agency this morning to say that our profile should not be shown to this birthmother. There are actually three potential birthmothers looking at profiles this week. The third one was definitely not an option for us. It's nice to see our agency busy. I'm thinking that we may not hear anything for a couple months now. The women looking at profiles now are due in May and June. I haven't heard of any women due in July, but you never know, someone may still show up at the agency. then< >now Recent Entries Adoption Complete! Thinking About Another - Thursday, Nov. 05, 2009
