Our social worker called today with the news that we are one of three families the potential birthmother with the July baby is considering!

She ended up looking at 18 profiles and chose another family from our office as well as one from a different office. She wanted to know where we live (our social worker told her the county) and what kind of church we go to. We know we aren't from a church with a similar worship style as hers, so once she sees what kind of church we go to, she may decide we aren't the family for her. We'll see!

We still don't know the gender of the baby, but that's fine, I don't want to know anyway. We probably won't know if we are chosen for at least a week.

If we are chosen I don't know how many people that I know I'll want to tell. It's still over three months away. That's a long time to wait, and a long time to have to keep everyone updated about what's going on. It's also a long time to get everyone excited when things could end up not working out.

My brother didn't want to tell everyone that he had a job interview because he didn't want to have everyone asking him how it went and didn't want to have to tell everyone if he didn't get the job. I guess I feel the same way about this potential adoption. I don't want all the questions, but I do want a few special people to know so they can keep the matter in their prayers.

Right now I will just keep things updated with close family and friends and with my diary here.
