My Journey
My IUI/Clomid Cycle Begins
Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2003 @ 1:02 p.m.

I woke up this morning with my period. So I didn't have to wonder about it all day. I took my temperature too, so my new chart already has a temp on it.

I called the doctor's office and scheduled my day 12 ultrasound. That would be Saturday, and since they aren't open then, I got it scheduled for Friday morning (day 11).

I also went to the pharmacy today and picked up my Serophene (Clomid) prescription. They gave me the generic brand, so I only had to pay $10 ($2 a pill) instead of twice that. I have five pills which I will start taking on Thursday. The directions don't say what time to take them, but I think I'll take them first thing in the morning.

I posted for the first time on the Fertility Friend message boards today. I've been charting there for over a year. Now that I'm going through something that I don't know much about, I figured it would be good to get the support of women who are experiencing what I am.

I'm not feeling too confident that this cycle will work out. I worry that the Clomid won't work and that my husband's count will be too low for the IUI. I am eager to try this though, and I'm praying that it will be successful.

What I really hate is how much I think about having a baby. It's too much, way too much!!! I will be glad when school starts because my mind will not have as much time to think about it.

This afternoon I'm going to school to clean my classroom. If I see my principal (more like a friend really) I plan to return her book (Taking Charge of Your Fertility) I borrowed a year ago. I've read it so often that I have gleaned as much as I can from it. I see no reason to keep it any longer. I also may have to tell her about seeing a fertility specialist. The last time I talked to her about trying to have a baby was before I saw my gynecolgist in March. I know that I can tell her what's going on, and that she will understand if I have to miss work and get a substitute when I need to go to the doctor.

She's a year older than me and has been off birth control for over a year. I keep wondering when she will get pregnant. Maybe she already is, but I haven't heard anything yet. I'm sure I would have heard if she was since I went to school yesterday and talked with the secretary.

Anyway, I better be going to school before the afternoon is gone. There's lots to get done.
