We met with our adoption case worker today. She's a really nice lady. We found out that she goes to the same church as my husband's cousin and uncle and aunt.

First we watched a video about networking. It had interviews with adoptive parents and birthmothers. One of the couples interviewed was the parents of my student that is adopted! One of the birthmothers interviewed was the birthmother of their son! It was interesting to see someone we know on the video.

After the video the caseworker went through all the paperwork we need to do next. We filled out and signed some of them. It felt like we were buying a house, we had to sign so much stuff.

We were told about an adoption conference coming up next week Saturday. If we go to it we can pretty much get all the education hours we need to be approved as foster parents.

We decided to go to it. It's only an hour away. We'll spend the day there, go out for dinner, and visit our favorite Christian bookstore. I think it will be a nice day to spend together.

The adoption worker said to tell her if we decide to go. Then she said she'd look for us at the conference and we can eat lunch with her and other adoptive couples working with the agency.

This evening my husband and I read through all our paperwork. We decided what sessions to attend at the conference and I filled our the form and wrote a $40 check for it. My husband has a terrible cold right now, so he didn't feel like filling our any paperwork tonight. I didn't really feel like it either. I can work on it this weekend.

Well, I'm getting pretty tired. I'll write another entry later and tell more details of all the things we have to do.
