My Journey
Life Goes On Friday, Feb. 01, 2008 @ 3:47 p.m.
Our social worker called yesterday to tell me that she doesn't need us to do fingerprinting until our state police clearances are one year old. She just did ours in November, so we are set for a while. Hopefully we'll get a baby before then.

Since we don't need to do fingerprinting for our adoption, and we need to do them now to keep our foster license, we decided to not renew our license. It is no longer necessary, and we don't care to do all the work to keep it active. We will be getting some paperwork to officially end our status as foster parents. I was also informed that the pregnant woman had her baby, a girl. She had narrowed the adoptive families down to two, one from our office (not us), and one from a third office. However she was having second thoughts about making an adoption plan. I'm thankful that we aren't one of those couples left hanging there. It really was probably for the best as the birthmother had been careless in her use of alcohol before knowing she was pregnant (for 4 months!) and I was concerned about how it could affect her baby. There still is hope for the expectant couple who will soon be looking at profiles. It sounds like they still plan to show them profiles of families in our county. I know few details about this situation and family. Now I have no excuse to not finish our updated profile. I told our social worker I would get it to her next week, and she said she'd appreciate it.
